A Mother’s Day

Today I took Ellie out for a “hike”. We ventured across the valley to a spot called Dutch Hollow where there are many looping and crisscrossing trails for horses, bikes, dogs, Mom’s, and Tot’s to enjoy. I put Ellie in the backpack and we took off up the trail. It was nice and peaceful not many others around. I was determined to get some exercise so I wasn’t really paying attention just moving.

Once we arrived at the top of the ridge Ellie began to nod off. I didn’t really want her to sleep in the middle of our hike. So I took the pack off and let her out to walk on her own. I’m so glad I did this because she starting showing me things I was not noticing before. Like the butterflies, the purple Penstemons, the bee’s buzzing, the Queen Anne’s Lace (I think), and she showed me she is trying to say “yellow”.  She made me slow down and remember the important things. She helped me live in the moment and I loved it. We had a lovely little stroll on that ridge where I was shown dozen’s of rocks, flowers, and sticks. She also made me stop and listen to bees, birds, the river, and a helicopter fly by.

I’m so happy to be a Mom to have a little person in my life that shows me how to stop and listen to the world around me, to explore my surroundings, and to discover new things.

So thanks to the Wee One for giving me a beautiful day with out even realizing what a gift it is.

Inspirations

Did you notice the new Link Category over there in the side bar called Inspirations? It is an ever changing list of 6 random things I come across on the wonderful world wide web that inspire me, make me think, lighten my mood, and just plain old impress me. So to make my blog a little more interesting have a looks see at what I like.

Right now I’m head over heels for all 6 of the little links in there. Excuse me while I ramble a bit…

Wash Your Hands – It is hilarious come on admit it. Those little hands all served up on a plate has gotta make you smile and tickle your funny bone just a wee bit. This sort of creative little project is what makes me love Etsy.

Hello, little miracle – nothing like feasting your eyes on perfect little snowflake. Ahhh

Water – Gary and I know Lee from the Altafarian world. In fact Gary has been doing work on his website for him. He is well known for his ski photography and is extremely talented. This is my all time favorite Lee Cohen ski photo.  He captured a beautiful wave that is breathtaking. I love the greens and blues of the ocean.

Love Birds – I have a sweet spot for little handmade birds. Cute. Their eyes are smiling. Do you see that?

Winter – Some words to help you get through the remainder of the season.

Art – This one is my current favorite. There is so much I could say about it. The playfulness, the message, it’s brilliant. Just watch it.

Enjoy

It’s a Round Ball

Last weekend we had the pleasure of seeing our favorite band play in Salt Lake City. We boogied into the wee hours, enjoyed the music, and relished in the company of our friends who joined us…

This is one of my favorite songs…

Family Picture

The world is a wondrous puzzle
Everyone a piece and every piece fits
Every piece is alive making energy
Energy pulls the pieces together
Into a round ball
And there is love
It’s a round ball
And there is love

The ball jumps the ball rolls
The ball lives in the moment I am told
The ball pumps and rolls with the flow
The ball laughs as it bounces

Sure as the sunrise it doesn’t matter
the shape of the hat
It all fits together in a family picture
And every wall’s got room for that

Every piece is a part of the whole
No one piece more important than the rest
So stand up, take a number
Every piece here’s got someplace to go
It’s a round ball
And there is love
It’s a round ball
And there is love
There is love

Hey there look at you, you got nothin’ else to do
you got any bright ideas
Tumbleweed rolling by
Catch the dust up in your eye
Saddle up the grey and ride out

Reunited!!!!

She’s back…. Our crazy white dog decided it was time to come home today. We spent the weekend at my parents, and when we turned into our driveway I saw something on our porch. I took a closer look and said “She’s Here!!” Gary gasped and couldn’t believe it. It was a sweet reunion for everyone. She is filthy dirty and a little bit skinnier but still the mysterious white dog that is Adah. What I wouldn’t give to be able to talk to her and find out just what in the world she was up to for almost 10 days. I wonder how far she traveled? If she heard us calling after her? What compelled her to take off in the first place? Was she really lost or just on walkabout? Did she get it out of her system? Was it as difficult a week for her as it was for us?  Who knows she is just a dog after all. We are glad to have her back though there was a definite void in the Marcoccia household last week. Thank you for mixing all of those good thoughts and well wishes into the cosmic soup on behalf of Adah and our broken hearts.

Barack The Vote Concert Clip

When we were in Ithaca over Christmas last year we went to see Jeb Puryear’s solo CD release party (for Hopes and Dreams) in Owego, NY. Cellist Hank Roberts was there, a long with Jeb and crew. We haven’t come close to forgetting that night! Just found a great clip of the Jeb Puryear Band with Hank Roberts about a month after we saw them in Owego.

Hank Roberts w/ the Jeb Puryear Band in a standout performance, from the Barack the Vote concert at the State Theatre in Ithaca, NY. 2-1-2008.

And here’s another we found that shows Jeb in true form. Three minute solo. Looks like Donna with Jim Lauderdale in this clip. Not bad for an old time fiddler, eh? 😉
